No one can see the visions and pictures in your mind. And no one will ever see the world from your point of view. I guess this is what Elric (one of Michael Moorcock’s wonderful Multiverse characters) must have felt and experienced in a very painful way among his own people.
The idea behind these lyrics has been with me quite a long time and I rediscovered many of the aspects while reading the Elric Saga. There are certainly a lot more ways to interpret both Michael Moorcock’s and my own work but this is the strongest point of connection I see. Again my sincerest thanks go to Michael for sharing his stories with us.
The lyrics:
alone
no one can see the visions
and pictures in your mind
the way that you perceive the world
and the dreams you leave behind
you’re searching for the answer
the piece that solves it all
for you alone can find
what no one has seen before
to escape the loneliness
you turn to friends, confused
together it feels easier
to endure the soliude
but the battles in your head
no one can understand
no one to share the burden
not even your dearest friend
the demons you will fight
you cannot crack the stone
a mind that is estranged
lost within the storm
the demons you will fight
you cannot crack the stone
the enemy inside
condemned to be alone
the distance just keeps growing
standing on the shore
of waters deep and cold
refusal turns into disgust
all the bridges burnt
the tragedy unfolds
no one can cure the memories
the scars remain your own
the darkest of epiphanies
in the end we’re all alone
the demons you will fight
you cannot crack the stone
a mind that is estranged
lost within the storm
the demons you will fight
you cannot crack the sone
the enemy inside
condemned to be alone
